Week One and Going Strong...

Well the first week of school (well 3 days) has successfully ended. Both girls are very excited and ready for the upcoming year.

Shelby is in 2nd grade and loves her teacher Mrs. Gould. She had her first homework assignment tonight and her and daddy already completed it. Shelby is very much a social butterfly and although she doesn’t mind the work her real objective in school is to socialize. She wants to be dropped off 15 minutes early so she has time to catch up on the latest girl talk.

Stacie our 8th grader (yep, that’s right the oldest in the school) is off to a terrific start as well. She loves her schedule and her teachers are great. She was excited to find out that she was being allowed to take Drama II as one of her electives based solely on her personality. She was told she would be unable to take Drama the first semester because her schedule would not accommodate the Drama I class. Apparently, you “have” to take Drama I in order to advance. She was okay with this and signed up for Drama I second semester. On the first day of school she stopped by and introduced herself to the Drama teacher Mr. Hewitt and the next day he had arranged to have her placed in his Drama II class telling her counselor that Stacie was confident and bubbly and that with her personality he wanted her in drama now!!! What a great confidence booster, she also came home after her speech today and not only was she brave enough to go first but she got her first of many perfect scores of the year.

Our dear little Miss Sydney started going to daycare at Dawn’s again this week. Although she only went for one day she had no problem getting right back into the routine. I do have to say it made me crack up that Wednesday morning when everyone was rushing around the house to get ready, the only thing Sydney could do was cry. She was certain that she was going to be left behind and not get to go “bye-bye” herself. We couldn’t even get a “first day of school picture” without her crying and pouting. Once she was put in the car her attitude significantly changed and she was ecstatic.

Bring on the 2010-2011 school year…we’re ready!
